TENANTS of social housing are set to benefit from new heating technology that will reduce their fuel bills.
Following a successful bid to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) Reach-Out competition, Wigan and Leigh Housing have been awarded £172,800.
This will enable tenants in some sheltered schemes to have electric storage heaters replaced with controllable radiators, which is expected to halve the average heating fuel consumption for tenants.
Installation is due to begin in the spring.
