POLICE have confirmed a man in his 50s has died after being hit by a train in Lowton.
On Thursday evening, British Transport Police were called to the railway near Winwick Lane following reports of a casualty.
Along with paramedics, officers attended the scene in Lowton.
Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police has now confirmed that the casualty was a man in his 50s.
They said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A large emergency service presence was reported on Winwick Lane in Croft at the time of the incident.
