LIBRARY users in Tyldesley, Golborne and Hindley are anticipating a reprieve for threatened branches.
But changes in a report expected to be rubber-stamped by Wigan Council's Cabinet this afternoon were less welcome in Atherton.
Readers who feared Golborne, Tyldesley and Atherton libraries could close because of enforced Council spending cuts were expecting confirmation that the libraraies will remain open.
Wigan and Leigh libraries would be unaffected.
Plans are for Tyldesley, Goborne and Hindley libraries to each open 35-40 hours per week, although Hibndley library building will close with services relocated across the road at Hindley Day care Centre.
But Atherton Library will close and the service would be reduced to 18 hours per week and relocated at the Hesketh Fletcher school site in Hamilton Street.
