A PASSIONATE wartime thriller is coming to Manchester's Opera House in October.
The critically acclaimed new play Lotty’s War, starring Olivia Hallinan, Mark Letheren and Adam Gillen, is set during the occupation of the Channel Islands in the Second World War, the only piece of Britain captured by the Nazis.
Directed by Bruce Guthrie, the play is based on recently discovered diaries and through a love story brings to life the often forgotten chapter of British history.
On June 28 1940, a squadron of German Bombers raided the main harbour of Guernsey, killing 44 islanders including Lotty’s dad. With the last boat to England gone and the brutal German army taking hold, Lotty is housed in close quarters with her sworn enemy, in particular General Bernberg.
In a tempestuous struggle between her loyalty to her homeland and the temptations of forbidden love, Lotty dares to tread a passionate and dangerous path to save a friend and her island.
Based on true events, Lotty’s War Is a fascinating story of love, loyalty and betrayal.
The production was made possible by the financial support of the Guernsey Arts Commission, who supported the original production.
Lotty’s War will be performed at the Opera from October 2 to October 4 at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday.
Tickets are priced between £10 and £32.40 and available by calling 0844 871 3018 or visiting atgtickets.com/manchester
