YOUNG Stephen John Suddenly, but peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on 2nd May 2024 in Wigan Infirmary, Steve aged 68 years. Much loved dad to Samantha, Louby and Mike. A dear father in law, cherished grandad, loving brother to Tony, brother-in-law to Barbara, treasured uncle to Lisa. Beloved son of the late Bob and the late Teresa. The funeral service will take place Friday 24th May 2024, 11.00am at Howe Bridge Crematorium. Family flowers only by request, donations in Steve's memory are going to Higher Fold Food Bank, these may be passed to immediate family members. Steve has requested a Wild West theme in keeping with his love of all things country and cowboy, boots and hats are encouraged ! Bright colours only ! So sad to hear of Steve’s passing. I worked with Steve for a long time at Hindley as officers on C wing and later as PO’s. Very funny with a keen sense of humour, he was DJ at my wedding/son’s christening. He loved a practical joke but was always helpful and caring. RIP Steve RIP Mucker. Mick Lathwood. 🥲

Worked with Steve at HMP Hindley such a gentleman and a fabulous line manager. Heart goes out to his family and close friends who will feel his great loss. I'm so shocked as Steve was such a fit bloke and a wonderful mentor in tough times at Hindley. Sleep peaceful Steve you were and are a wonderful soul. Lynne and Colin Kinghorn ****
