PEOPLE seeking a step up on the career ladder will be eager to find out more about 100 jobs that will be up for grabs next month.
A jobs and skills fair has been organised by Wigan Council and will take place on Friday, September 6 at Wigan Life Centre North giving the people the chance to speak to employers.
Over 100 job vacancies will be on offer at the fair which will feature representatives from Debenhams; Northwest Aerospace and the British Heart Foundation who are looking for talented and enthusiastic staff.
Jobseekers will get the opportunity to try new skills with workshops ranging from hairdressing to fitness training. Council and Job Centre Plus advisers will be on hand to discuss job opportunities and provide support.
Councillor David Molyneux, Wigan Council Cabinet member for Skills, said: “Wigan Council understands how important it is that young people and adults in the borough have job opportunities and this is why we are holding a jobs and skills fair.
“We are pleased at the number of businesses and training providers who have confirmed their attendance and I am very confident it will be a successful day for everyone involved.”
Kay Bendell, Customer Service Operations Manager at Wigan Jobcentre Plus said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Wigan Council to bring these employment and training opportunities to local jobseekers. I would encourage anyone who is currently out of work to come along to the event and take advantage of the range of support available."
The jobs and skills fair is a free drop-in event and will take place between 9am and 1am at Wigan Life Centre North, at The Wiend, Wigan.
