Crews tackling landfill fire
A LARGE amount of landfill waste has caught fire in Atherton.
Three fire engines have attended with crews from Atherton, Leigh and Hindley called to the waste fire on Arley Way, Atherton just before 4.30am today (Wednesday).
The blaze covers an area of 20 metres by 20 metres.
Firefighters are still at the scene and have used one hose reel and two jets.
