THE DEATH of a woman who was found dead at a house in Leigh yesterday, Saturday, is no longer being treated as suspicious.
Police were called to Maple Crescent by the ambulance service at 10am after reports of a woman being found unresponsive in a house.
Paramedics attempted CPR, however, the woman – believed to be in her 20s – died.
A 22-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation following the Home Office Post Mortem examination, which proved there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
Six police cars, two vans and two forensic vans were on the terraced street in Atherleigh as detectives carried out their investigation.
Officers wearing forensic suits could be seen going in and out of a house, which is at the centre of the police inquiry.
A section of the street was cordoned off.

Superintendent Paul Walker said: "We’ve followed each line of enquiry available to us to find out exactly what has led to the end of this woman’s life but we are no longer treating this as a murder investigation.
“Our thoughts of course remain with the woman’s family and I’d like to thank the people in the local area for their patience as we have dealt with this sad incident.”
