WHEN Charlotte Smith became a mum for the third time last year she realised she had to travel out of Tyldesley to buy clothes for her baby boy Shay.
Her friend, Kirstie Garvey, who owns women’s clothes shop Betty Blu on Elliott Street, encouraged Charlotte to open a childrenswear store.
The former Fred Longworth High School pupil took Kirstie’s advice and set up Bon Bon’s Childrenswear last September.
As online orders kept coming, Charlotte took the plunge of opening her first shop in May, based on Stanley Street, and business has been booming.

Charlotte, 36, said: “If I wanted to go looking for children’s clothes I would have to go to Leigh or Walkden.
“I have been overwhelmed by how nice everyone has been about the shop and the quality of clothes we sell. As well as parents we have had lots of grandparents coming into the store as well.”
Charlotte added that there is a positive vibe in Tyldesley with more shops opening.
A number of them, including Charlotte’s, stays open until 8pm on Thursdays.
