THIS picture of the old Leigh railway station was taken around 1960.
It was snapped by Ron Hurdus, from Leigh, who emigrated to Australia in 1966, where he still lives.
The station was named Bedford Leigh when it opened in 1864 and was changed to Leigh and Bedford in 1876 before becoming Leigh in 1914.
It closed in 1969 with no replacement for the town introduced since.
