MP for Bolton West and Atherton MP Chris Green has been appointed in a supporting role for the Department for Education.
Mr Green will serve as a Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to assist Education Ministers in their policy creation and delivery, as well as liaising between the department and backbenchers.
Last year, the MP campaigned for increased funding for special education needs and also held an important Westminster debate on the sustainability of the nurseries sector.
He has also been a long term advocate of apprenticeships and has welcomed the Government's renewed focus on ensuring schools have the resources they need.

Speaking about his new role, Mr Green said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed to the role of PPS for the Department for Education.
“As an MP, I’ve had a great many discussions with parents, teachers and head teachers about education and the opportunities it gives to children when they leave school, giving them the best start in life.
“I look forward to working with Ministers and the team in the Department for Education in this important area.”
