IT was a hive of activity at the fifth Leigh Canal Festival this weekend.
Canal boats moored up near Leigh Miners Welfare Institute where more than 30 stalls were set up along with a funfair.
Traders at the side of the water had art, crafts and other creative goods on offer.
Cruise tours were also popular with residents, who were keen to travel along the canal.
A host of bands performed at the Kirby Road venue on Saturday and a ladies demonstration rugby league match was also held.
Chairman of the Leigh Canal Festival Group Peter Rowlinson said: "The festival went well - there were just under 2,000 people who were there at the weekend so we are delighted with the attendance.
"The event is one that local people enjoy and helps to show off a significant part of the town’s heritage.
"People enjoy the attraction of being on the water.
"I would like to thank the efforts of the team and volunteers."
