"PATIENCE is a virtue" is certainly a saying that applies to fishing.
Sixteen-year-old Callum Gregory, from Atherton, spent a full day at Bee Fold Fishery looking to make a big catch with no luck.
The Wigan and Leigh electrical engineering student returned the following afternoon and was there for around two hours before his line drew the attention of a large common carp.
Callum, who was with a few friends, kept his concentration to pull the fish out the water and discovered it weighed a whopping 21.5lbs.

He said: "I was really happy to catch it.
"I have been fishing for around a year and have been told that the fish I caught is the biggest one in the Atherton area.
"The fish's nickname is Cut Tail."
Callum caught the fish on Sunday, September 8.
