PLANS have been submitted to build a nursery, a retail terrace and a food outlet on land where a metal recycling plant is based.
An outline planning application was approved last year to construct a mixed use development at Maxilead Metals' Parr Bridge Works base near Tyldesley including 154 homes, a nursery, a life centre and space for a number of outlets.
Bellway Homes started building at the site, Elements, in August with the three and four bedroom houses set to be completed in around two years.
And now a reserved matters application has been issued to Wigan Council to build a nursery, a retail terrace and a food outlet at the site.
Maxilead Metals will move into their new home north of Chanters Industrial Estate in Atherton next year.

A planning document prepared by Bate and Taylor Architects on behalf of Flexdane Ltd states: "The nursery building located nearest to the site entrance is a two storey design with a combination of children classrooms located at ground and first floor level.
"At first floor level, a small outdoor play area will be guarded by a 2000mm high cladding system incorporating small sections of toughened glazing ensuring safety and privacy for users.
"Additional outdoor play areas will be provided in the garden at ground level.
“The nursery is located at the south corner of the site and as such will not be subject to through traffic for parents and children at drop off times.
"The food retail unit has been positioned close to the entrance of the site and orientated to face the new access road to create a sense of arrival and approach to the development.
“The site also benefits from its proximity to the guided busway route."
A decision on the application is set to be made on December 20.
