STUDENTS are taking to the stage at Bedford High School in Leigh to bring a musical version of classic Christmas film Elf to life.

More than 80 Bedford pupils are taking part in the show and they will be joined by 100 primary school pupils from Leigh St Mary’s, St John’s CE and St Stephen’s CE.

Based on the smash-hit festive movie, Elf tells the story of Buddy, a young boy who crawls into Santa’s sack as he visits an orphanage.

Buddy, played by Will Ferrell in the film, is whisked away to the North Pole, where he is raised by a family of elves.

As Buddy grows and his inability to make toys becomes obvious, he realises his true identity and sets out on a journey to New York to find his real father.

The big-hearted tale of Yuletide cheer sees our hero winning over his grumpy old dad and helping his young stepbrother believe in the magic of Christmas again.

Bedford High School’s expressive arts team pull out all the stops to bring great productions to the Manchester Road school stage.

Previous pantos Aladdin and Cinderella were sell-out smash hits.
