BURGLARS broke into a business unit before leaving in a car, ramming a police vehicle and escaping the scene.
Police were sent to Bolton Road in Atherton at around 5.05pm yesterday, Saturday, after being told thieves were breaking into a unit.
Officers arrived but the culprits got into a blue Kia, rammed into a police vehicle and sped away.
An officer was left "understandably shaken" by the incident.
Police said it appears nothing was taken from the unit.
No arrests have been made.
A force spokesman said: "Police were called at around 5.05pm on Saturday to a report of thieves breaking into a unit off Bolton Road, Atherton.
"The offenders left in a vehicle and rammed a responding police vehicle.
"There were no injuries but an officer was left understandably shaken.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
