A LEIGH youngster has gone for the chop and had her long locks cut in memory of a family friend who died of cancer last year.
Nine-year-old Lily Wolstenhulme decided to have her hair cut after losing 40-year-old Aron Baker to skin cancer and not only did she want to raise money for charity but she also donated her hair to Little Princess Trust.
The youngster had nine inches of her hair cut off on Saturday, July 24 and will send it to the charity, which provides real hair wigs for children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses.
Lily also collected £900 for Cancer Research UK.
Proud mum Jennifer said: “Lily made this decision all by herself after dreaming about having her hair cut and she was determined to raise as much money as possible.
“When Aron lost his battle with skin cancer at the age of 40, it had a massive impact on all those who loved him.
“Lily describes Aron as her best friend and she misses him very much.”
