FIREFIGHTERS were called after a blaze broke out at a listed farmhouse during the night-time.
Garrett Hall was seen in flames during the early hours of Saturday, September 11.
Crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spent "several hours" tackling the fire and used jets to put out the flames.
Garrett Hall farmhouse, on Garrett Hall Lane, Tyldesley is a Grade II listed building and had fallen into disrepair.
A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At approximately 1.10am on Saturday, 11 September, four fire engines from Atherton, Farnworth and Leigh fire stations, a Command Unit and support pump from Rochdale, as well as support pumps from Leigh and Whitefield, attended a fire on Garrett Lane in Tyldesley.
“The fire involved a derelict farmhouse consisting of two floors. Firefighters used three jets to extinguish the fire. Fire crews were in attendance at the scene for several hours.”
GMFRS has not yet commented on the cause of the fire.
In August it was reported that plans had been submitted in relation to the site, which could be brought back into use as three flats under proposals for a new housing estate.
Plans also include for a further six flats and 33 terraced and detached houses, which would also be built on the land off Garrett Hall Lane, with the council set to decide the outcome of the application later in the year.
