A public consultation into controversial plans to build a Ryder Cup golf course on the Hulton Park Estate has been extended.
Developers Peel L&P have submitted a revised planning application which includes 1,036 homes on the estate, which borders Atherton, replicating the scheme approved by Bolton Council and the Secretary of State in 2020.
Other aspects that have been added recently include improved pedestrian and cycle access, and allotments and a new village hall for Over Hulton. Alongside this a health and wellbeing hub to support facilities such as a lido, gym and space for exercise class has been added.
- Historic cotton mill could be transformed into 126 apartments with pool and gym if plans approved
A 'flexible food and drink venue', Chequerbent Barns, has also been included.
The public consultation phase of the planning process was due to end on October 16 but has now been extended to November 13.
Bolton Council’s cabinet member for strategic housing and planning, Cllr Toby Hewitt, said: “We recognise the significant public interest in this proposal. Given the size and nature of the proposed development we have extended the consultation on this planning application.
“Public consultation is a vital part of the planning process and the feedback we receive helps inform decision making.
“I urge everyone who has not yet shared their views on the scheme to take advantage of the extension and have your say.”
