A BURST water pipe has caused residents to lose water supplies this morning, Friday.
United Utilities has sent engineers to Nel Pan Lane in Leigh to carry out repairs.
In a statement on Friday morning at 9.09am, United Utilities said: "A burst has been spotted and reported to us on Nel Pan Lane and we can confirm this to be the cause of no water or low pressure in your area.
"We're on with it and our team will be in the area as soon as possible to get this fixed.
"Thank you for your patience, we hope to have things back to normal as soon as possible.
"We will keep you updated as we progress with the repair."
In an update issued at 11.44am, United Utilities said the repairs are proving "more complex" than first thought and that water supplies may be inconsistent through the day, especially at peak times.
A further statement said: "The repair is more complex than we first thought, and it's taking our team longer than expected to complete the work.
"All customers should have some supply however this may fluctuate during peak times of the day. Please be assured, our team are doing all they can and hope to have things back to normal as soon as possible.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing."
