LEIGH Cricket Club are one game away from a first ever appearance in the Lancashire Cup Final.
Standing in their way are Longridge CC, who travel to Beech Walk this Sunday (1pm) hoping to upset the hosts and book a place in the showpiece final at Old Trafford in September.
Leigh captain Karl Brown is unavailable this weekend, but is in confident mood.
He said: "The lads have been brilliant so far this season. We spoke in April about our desire to go deep in the cup competitions and we now find ourselves one game away from the Lancs Cup Final.
"I’m confident we can keep the run going all the way to Old Trafford."
Leigh currently sit in third position of the Liverpool & District Cricket Competition Premier League and have had successful cup campaigns already this season, reaching two T20 finals days and the regional final of the National knock out. Nevertheless, the skipper knows they can’t let their standards slip.
"We just have to keep doing what we have been for the past couple of seasons. We play an attractive brand of cricket with a young, talented squad who all play without fear and there’s an unbelievable togetherness about the group. I urge everyone to come down to Beech Walk on Sunday and cheer us on."
