PLAYERS, coaches, and supporters flocked to Leigh East over the weekend to watch their game played in tribute to Ben Woods.
Ben, who played for Leigh East from a young boy up to the Open Age team, tragically died while on a family holiday in Cyprus on Tuesday, July 5.
With Leigh East's National Conference League game against Oldham St Anne's penned in for Saturday, July 9, the players decided they wanted the game to go ahead in honour of the young half back.

After a man-of-the-match performance for Newcastle Thunder against Bradford Bulls on Friday evening, Josh Woods led the Leigh East players out onto the field the following day as a tribute to his brother.
With Ben's family in attendance, both teams then joined together for a minute applause.
Club chairman Dave Coyle described the game as a "very emotional" occasion, which resulted in a 44-16 victory for the home side.
With tributes still pouring in for the popular rugby league player, Oldham St Anne's also offered Ben's family a "very generous" donation to help pay for a future memorial service.
