POLICE have shared an update after a serious crash in Leigh caused up to five hour delays.
At around 5am on Friday, July 15, there were reports that an Audi had crashed into a ditch on the side of Atherleigh Road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and closed off the two-mile stretch between St Helens Road and East Lancashire Road in both directions.

While medical staff attended to the driver, officers recovered the car from the ditch and cleared the road of rubble.
This caused delays of up to five hours, with the road re-opening again at around 10.30 am.
No serious injuries have been reported.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that at around 5am on Friday 15 July, officers attended an RTC involving an Audi on East Lancashire Road in Leigh.
"Emergency services attended and there are believed to be no life threatening injuries."
