ASTLEY & Tyldesley riders have enjoyed a busy programme of racing recently.
Double wins in Round 5 of the Manchester League series at Stockport ensured that Astley & Tyldesley have clinched the overall series wins in the Division 1 and Division 2 team competitions.
A&T hammered Stockport 60-10 in the Division 1 match, whilst A&T edged out Bury 63-59 in another close encounter in the Division 2 match. Maximum scores were recorded by Duncan Whalley, Steve Harris and Reece Pollitt, as they extended their leads in the u-16, Veterans and Open Grand Prix series respectively.
There were strong performances from Josh Pilkington (u-10) and Frank White (u-12), who both finished 2nd in their respective Grand A Finals at the first national round of the British Youth & Junior League series at Kesgrave, Suffolk. Duncan Whalley finished 4th in the u-14 'A' Final.
An excellent showing from A&T's u-8 and u-10 riders saw them finish in 4th place, out of 10 teams, in the Little League Championships, at Leicester.
Gin Pit Storm took the win in Round 4 of the A&T Go-Ride series. The team scores were: Gin Pit Storm 86 Astley Hurricanes 54 Tyldesley Typhoons 14.
This win moves the Storm level on points with the Hurricanes, with two rounds remaining. Duncan Whalley won the Individual Grand Prix for the fourth successive round.
It's getting closer to Astley & Tyldesley's eagerly awaited promotion of the European Cycle Speedway Championships, on Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July.
