AN independent music studio has been helping to create a buzz around musicians in Leigh.
The Music Centre, based in Leigh Spinners Mill, has grown into a huge project since husband and wife John and Joanne Baldwin created the business in 2008.
Slowly building their brand and reputation, the business boasts nine production studios, tuition classes, a guitar shop, as well as a bar and cafe that hosts intimate events.
Moving into the purpose-built studio in Spinners Mill around three years ago, this has allowed them to further expand and create a vibrant, high-tech venue for artists to record their own music.
In turn, this has helped to create a community of local and budding musicians who don't need to travel to more-expensive studios elsewhere.
John, who plays live in popular cover band The Sonneteers, said: "We have slowly been building our reputation in the local music scene over the years.
"We have recorded single tracks or whole albums from a variety of artists, from local singers to bands from out of town.
"We like to think we can offer anything that the artist wants, and it's been good to see more and more musicians coming from here in Leigh."
Highlighting the success of the business, The Music Centre was reviewed as one of the 'The Three Best Rated' music shops and studios across the borough last year.
Reviewed by an anonymous shopper, the business was rated on a rigorous 50-point inspection on their local reviews, services and courses provided, customer satisfaction and value for money.
Putting years of investment into The Music Centre, John and Joanne have previously spoken of their delight at the recognition.
Joanne said: "We've done a lot of hard work through Covid to keep the business going and offer what we could to customers, so it's good to have this recognition.
"We've put a lot of money into getting the Centre to where it is today, so fingers crossed we've finished for now!".
With an "amazing" collection of producers, engineers and teachers each with their own "fabulous reputation", John and Joanne said they are confident in The Music Centre's continued success and being a hub for local musicians of the future.
