Lidl is inviting the lcommunity to consult on draft plans to deliver a new store and Starbucks drive-through unit in nearby Platt Bridge.
The proposed multi million-pound investment would see the development of a new store on Templeton Road, Platt Bridge offering Lidl’s produce to residents in the area. The supermarket says the store would create around 40 new jobs for the local community. The proposals also include a drive-through unit which will be occupied by Starbucks.
Plans for the new supermarket include a sales area of 1,251m2, including features such as Lidl’s in-store bakery and customer toilets with baby changing facilities. The store will also be supported by 111 car parking spaces including eight dedicated accessible spaces, nine parent and child spaces, and two electric vehicle charging spaces.
The public are invited to attend a public exhibition and meet the Lidl team on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Platt Bridge Community Centre, Victoria Street, Platt Bridge, Wigan, WN2 5AH from 3pm to 7pm.
However, for those who are not able to attend on this day, the public can still register their support and provide any comments online through the following website: tinyurl.com/lidlplattbridge or via telephone: 0161 8176225.
Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Robert Lawton, said: “We are delighted to announce plans to bring a new Lidl supermarket to serve Platt Bridge. We have long been committed to serving the communities in and around Wigan and the new development will provide even more local people with greater access to high quality, affordable produce.
"We hope that as many people as possible are able to participate in this public consultation and look forward to sharing and discussing our plans with everyone.”
