A GIRLS netball team has been going from strength to strength recently, with 19 girls representing the club at the county level.

Tyldesley Netball Club, who train at Leigh Sports Village every Monday evening, have been quietly developing budding netballers over the years.

With more coaches coming on board recently, the club has been able to attract and train more netballers across the region, with a record 19 of their talented players now representing the club for Merseyside County.

Playing at regional level, this means that selected girls from the u11, u13, u15, and u17 teams now have the opportunity to receive extra training on England Netball's 'talent pathway', which aims to find the sport's next national star.

In addition to this, the club also signed up to the 'Bee Netball' programme this year, which is designed to encourage more 5 to 9 year olds to get involved in the sport.

Following this move in getting younger girls interested in the sport, the Tyldesley club has been recognised as one of England Netball's 'trailblazing' clubs across the country.

Head coach Emma Toone said “We are extremely proud of each and every player who has achieved this honour and will support them in their journey.

"All the coaches at Tyldesley are fully committed to developing the skills of all players and love that so many players are enjoying netball and progressing so well at the club. Well done to all coaches and players.”

Earlier this month, England netballler Laura Malcolm also came down to the club to put players through their paces and further inspire their journey.
