A MAN was pushed through one of his toughest ever challenges by the supporters who joined him on runs across the borough.
After completing marathons and half-marathons in the past, Andy Leather, from Leigh, set himself the task to run five miles every four hours, for 48 hours.
From Friday, December 2 to Sunday, December 4, the 42-year-old completed the 65 mile challenge on 13 routes throughout Wigan and Leigh.

Finding the challenge tougher than he expected, especially with the lack of sleep it entailed, Andy was joined on the majority of his runs by friends and other members of Robin Park runners club.
These running partners, along with his messages of support, helped to push him to the finish line.
He also ran a five-mile run in a Storm Trooper costume once he hit his original fundraising target.
Andy said: "It was a lot tougher than I expected to be honest.
"The running becomes difficult but the fact you're so sleep deprived is the worst thing - just when you're nodding off it's back up to run again!"
Despite the difficulties he faced over the weekend, Andy was determined to complete the challenge as he was running in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
Working for a PE Academy that delivers sports classes at local schools, Andy said he has seen the "amazing" work that the charity provides to children with cancer and the support for their families.
He added: "The challenge was tough but if I can help just one person from this, then it's more than worth it.
"The support I had was amazing, from people messaging me, and joining me on the runs.
"There was also Provis Sport who donated almost £100 of running gear and the Little Kitchen who provided me with free coffee over the weekend.
"The support really pushed me on!"
Following his 48 hour task, Andy said he now has plans to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon next April.
