FOURTEEN establishments in Leigh are serving customers with a one or zero hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.
From a score of zero to five, food hygiene ratings are given to food handling businesses after an inspection has assessed how well they comply with food safety laws.
The rating reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of the inspection by the local authority.
In Leigh, 12 establishments that handle food have a one-out-of-five hygiene rating while two businesses have the lowest score of zero.

Great Food Company
Great Food Company has a food hygiene rating of zero, the Food Standards Agency shows.
Inspected in October 2022, urgent improvement was stated to be necessary on the Kings Business Centre takeaway/sandwich shop.
The business, located next to the Car Lease garage on Warrington Road, was also noted to need improvements in its hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building.
A zero food hygiene rating also suggests that the business could be putting people's health at immediate risk.
Chapel Street News
The Food Standards Agency also shows that Chapel Street News also has a food hygiene rating of zero.
Inspected in August, urgent improvement was noted in the newsagent's management of food safety.
Improvements were also reported to be neccessary in its hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building.
Angelo's Takeaway
Inspected in August, Angelo's Takeaway on Chapel Street has a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
Angelo's assessment found that major improvement is necessary for its management of food safety.

Big T's
Inspected in May, Big T's takeaway on Lord Street has a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
Inspectors found that the hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of the building is "generally satisfactory".
However, the report found that major improvement is necessary for its management of food safety.

Inspected in June, Chau's Fish & Chip shop on St Helens Road has a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Inspected in April, Leigh Superstore on Leigh Road has a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
