She appeared to be sentenced at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 12, where she was ordered to bay back the value of what she stole.

Thomas Quirk, prosecuting, told the court that the offence occurred on June 1 last year.

Horner entered the Warrington Road garden centre and pilfered a Smeg kettle and two Smeg toasters.

The court heard that the three items had a combined value to Bents of £478.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the offence, admitting responsibility.

Horner, of Windsor Road, Leigh, was sentenced by district judge John McGarva to a conditional discharge for a period of 12 months.

She was also told she must pay compensation to Bents of £478, which will be deducted from her benefits.
