POLICE officers have slapped a further closure order on a flat in Atherton.

Working in partnership with Wigan Council, Greater Manchester Police placed a full closure order on a flat in Spring Gardens, Atherton, back in October.

This was in response to reports of disorder, criminal activity, and anti-social behaviour associated with this address, which is reported to be having a detrimental impact on the quality of life of residents in the community.

A full closure order means that access is prohibited by anyone apart from Wigan Council and the emergency services.

After the order was in place until January 20, this has now been extended for a further three months, until Wednesday, April 19.

Anyone found to be breaching the order will be liable to a fine, imprisonment or both.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "We are committed to working with our partners to make our communities safer.

"Please continue to work with us and report your concerns regarding anti-social behaviour and criminal activity so we can take action like this."
