Tom, from Powered by Hip Hop (UC Crew), convinced the judges to rank him in first place in the 2022 IDA World Technical Category.

In the technical category competitors needed to perform a three-minute scratch DJing set where they had to perform sets including beat juggling and scratching, which meets the judge's criteria of high levels of musicality, originality, technical ability, patterns and style for each round of the tournament.

Tom, 31, had to complete four rounds to win the world championships, whilst also performing at a two-person DJing showcase as Vice Championships with DJ Static.

Tom, who grew up in Pennington, is a former pupil at Gilded Hollins Primary and Lowton High and attended Winstanley College, before going to Leeds University to study economics.

He now lives in Salford, where he DJs regularly for clubs, teaches classes at music schools and travels the world competing and sharing his music.

Tom Glynn, from Powered by Hip Hop (UC Crew), said: "This is a fantastic achievement for DJ Tommy Pnuts.

"You will be seeing much more of him in venues throughout 2023."
