A NEW market will show off a wide variety of independent traders and creative organisations at Leigh Spinners Mill this weekend.
On Saturday, April 8, Leigh Spinners Mill will host its first Makers Market on the second floor of the historic building.
Following decades of disuse, the regeneration of the Mill began in 2014 once the sole occupants, carpet and turf manufacturers Leigh Spinners Ltd, began renting out space to local organisations.
Following the appointment of former Leigh MP Jo Platt as general manager in 2019, the Mill has rapidly redeveloped and now houses more than 60 independent business and community organisations, with many more on the waiting list.

Some of these businesses, along with many other traders, will be on show on Saturday afternoon, with 22 stalls showing off a wide collection of homemade, handcrafted, and unique products.
This includes woodcraft and engraving stalls, illustrations and prints, jewellery and accessories, and many more.
The market also hopes to bring more people to the Mill to highlight the variety of traders that reside in the vibrant community hub.
Angela Hodges, manager of the Millage Canteen inside the Mill, said: "We will have 22 stalls and 4 of which are from Creative Spin on the Fourth floor of the Mill.
"We are trying to make Leigh aware of the amazing resource that is on our doorstop [such as] the 125 seater cinema, archery, Sticky Black Vinyl, Love Me Again reused clothes shop, and it's so sad it isn't more utilised."
The 'Paper Birds' exhibition which showcases the creative work of professional artists and members of the community, and film showings at Leigh Film Factory will also be on offer.
Leigh Makers Market will take place at Leigh Spinners Mill, on Park Lane, from 11am to 3pm.
