A MAN has been taken into custody after he was found to be in posession of a "large bow knife", police have alleged.

On Sunday, April 16, Greater Manchester Police officers reported that a vehicle was spotted lurking around the Guided Busway in Tyldesley.

After stopping the vehicle, GMP Transport Officers reported finding a man armed with the large knife.

He was subsequently taken into the custody and is awaiting charge, police say.

Sentencing guidelines show that the punishment for possessing bladed articles and offensive weapons can range from a fine to time in prison.

The maximum punishment is reported to be four years in custody.
