A COLLISION caused huge delays on the M6 in the borough this afternoon.
Delays were reported on the M6 Northbound at around 1pm this afternoon (Friday, April 21), between junction 26 at Orrell and junction 25 at Bryn.
The National Highways announced the delays this afternoon, which is reported to have followed a collision between a car and tanker.
One lane was closed as the emergency services dealt with the incident, and more than 6 miles of congestion were reported.
This saw traffic backed up to junction 23 at Haydock Island, and caused delays of up to 60 minutes on approach to the incident.
All lanes have since re-opened but congestion and delays have followed due to the traffic backlog.
