SEVERAL establishments have been given a boost by local food inspectors after previous low scores, while one business has remained the same.
From a score of zero to five, food hygiene ratings are given to food handling businesses after an inspection has assessed how well they comply with food safety laws.
The rating reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of the inspection by the local authority.

Clapham's Bakery
Many establishments have been given an improved score on the Food Standards Agency website following a reinspection, but Clapham's Bakery has remained at a low rating.
As previously reported, Clapham's was given a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating following an inspection in August 2022.
Following a reinspection on March 23, the Food Standards Agency shows that the bakery has again been given a one-star rating.
Improvements were noted as being necessary for the bakery's hygienic food handling as well as the cleanliness and condition of the building.
Inspectors reported that major improvements were necessary in its management of food safety.
Sportsman's Deli
Sportsman Deli, on Firs Lane, was given a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating from its inspection on February 6.
In a follow-up inspection on April 25, the sandwich shop has improved massively to a five-star rating.
The cafe's management of food safety was rated as needing "Good" in the inspection.
Inspectors also found that the cleanliness and condition of the building and the hygienic food handling were "Good".
Spice Lounge
After a one-star rating in November 2022, Spice Lounge on Chapel Street has jumped up to a three-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
The Indian restaurant's management of food safety was rated as being "Good".
Inspectors found that the cleanliness and condition of the building and the hygienic food handling were "Generally Satisfactory".
Mr Fish
Inspected in February, Mr Fish was given a rating of one-out-of-five following an inspection by the local authority.
The fish and chip shop, on Union Street in the town centre, has since jumped up to a three-out-of-five rating following a reinspection on May 3.
The business' hygienic food handling, management of food safety, and cleanliness and conditions of the building were all rated to be "Generally Satisfactory".
Great Food Company
Inspected in October 2022, the Great Food Company sandwich shop was given the lowest score of zero-out-of-five.
Urgent improvements were stated to be necessary at the business, attached to a car garage on Warrington Road, and it has since jumped up to a three-star rating upon reinspection.
The business' hygienic food handling, management of food safety, and cleanliness and conditions of the building were all rated to be "Generally Satisfactory".
Higher Folds Community Centre
Inspected in September 2022, Higher Folds Community Centre on Stirling Close has a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
The community centre has now been given a three-out-of-five following a reinspection on March 20.
The business' hygienic food handling, management of food safety, and cleanliness and conditions of the building were all rated to be "Generally Satisfactory".
Rice N Spice
Inspected in July 2022, Rice N Spice on Corner Lane, next to the Shell garage near Hindley Green, was given a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
The takeaway has now been given a three-out-of-five rating following a reinspection on May 2.
The business' hygienic food handling, management of food safety, and cleanliness and conditions of the building were all rated to be "Generally Satisfactory".
Richmond House Nursing Home
Inspected in November 2022, Richmond House Nursing Home on Mitchell Street was given a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
Upon re-inspection in March, the nursing home was given a five-out-of-five rating.
The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building were rated as being "Very Good".
The management of food safety and hygienic food handling were both rated as being "Good".
Chapel Street News
Given the lowest score of zero following an inspection in August 2022, Chapel Street News is now rated as having a two-out-of-five food hygiene score.
The newsagents' hygienic food handling and management of food safety were reported to be "Generally Satisfactory" following an inspection in January.
Inspectors did report the improvements were necessary for the cleanliness and condition of the building and facilities.
