HERE is a great picture showing the Leigh contingent who were part of Great Britain's victorious 1954 Rugby League World Cup winning team.
The photo was taken five days after the British had defeated France 16-12 in the final in Paris on November 13, 1954, to win the first ever Rugby League World Cup.
Pictured from left to right are Jimmy Ledgard (full back and vice captain), Bill Hughes (masseur), Frank Kitchen (left wing).
Kitchen won two caps in the tournament and scored a try in Great Britain's 28–13 victory over Australia in the first group match in Lyon on October 31.
He then scored two tries in Great Britain's 26–6 victory over New Zealand in the third group match at Bordeaux on November 11, 1954.
Due to a leg injury which occurred in the New Zealand game he missed out on the final.
Meanwhile, Ledgard played in all of Britain's matches, including the three group games against France, Australia and New Zealand. he scored one try and kicked 13 goals during the World Cup campaign.
