JOURNAL reader Steve Alldred has shared this wonderful picture featuring a football team line-up from more than 80 years ago.

Steve says the photograph features 'Bag Lane Villa' football team, in Atherton.

It was taken in 1939/40 and steve added his Uncle Jack is among the players featured.

Steve emailed in to say: "I thought your readers might be interested to see the attached photo! Team is 'Bag Lane Villa' ..(Atherton) ..taken in 1939/40.. my Uncle Jack was Captain.

"Several trophies so they must have had a good season!

"Team later 'morphed' with Atherton Collieries."
