EXCITEMENT is building in the town as Leigh will compete in their first Challenge Cup final for 52 years this weekend.
With Leigh's only two Challenge Cup successes coming in 1921 and 1971, the Leopards' charge to this year's final is a momentous occasion for the town - especially from a club only just promoted back to the Super League.
As Bedford High's unbeaten Year 7 team has also reached the national final as a curtain-raiser for the Challenge Cup final, the community has rallied around both teams and thousands of pounds have been raised to help the school team purchase a new kit, training kit, accommodation, and travel to the capital.
And with thousands of Leopards fans planning to embark on the capital this weekend, fans, residents, and politicians have expressed their support for the teams on what will be a historic occasion.

Leigh MP James Grundy said: "The whole town seems to be abuzz with excitement about Leigh Leopards heading to Wembley this weekend.
"Regardless of whether Leigh win or not on Saturday, everyone locally is wishing them success and hoping they pull off a historic win.
"Rugby League has always been an important part of the local economy as well as a key part of the identity of the town, with Leigh being one of the founding teams of Rugby League.
"A win for Leigh Leopards would be a huge boost both for local businesses and for local residents as I suspect the celebrations will be absolutely massive if they do."
Similarly, Leader of Wigan Council, Cllr David Molyneux, said: "It’s a fantastic achievement for Adrian Lam’s side to reach their first Challenge Cup final since 1971 and they have the opportunity to cement their place in the club’s history books.
"On behalf of us all at Wigan Council I would like to wish the best of luck to Adrian Lam, Derek Beaumont and everyone associated with the Leopards for the game.
"And to all of the fans travelling down to London, enjoy the experience with your friends and family as the 2023 season is shaping up to be a famous one."
Speaking after the semi-final win over St Helens, Head coach Adrian Lam previously said: "It's a bit of a dream, I played in two Cup finals but not at Wembley.
"It's all about Wembley and I'm getting emotional thinking about it. It will be up there with the biggest moments of my career."
