PATIENTS and staff Wigan & Leigh Hospice got up close with the Challenge Cup trophy.
On Thursday last week, September 21, Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont made a visit to the hospice, as did the famous trophy.
Leigh Leopards won the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on August 12 for the first time since 1971, beating Hull KR in Golden Point extra time.
James Winterbottom, from Wigan Council, brought the Cup to the hospice on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, Derek Beaumont later visited to speak to staff and patients who were eager for their chance to see the trophy in person.
The morning also included a Business Network Event hosted by the Wigan & Leigh Hospice fundraising team, where around 20 businessmen and women from across the borough came together to meet their fellow peers and take part in networking opportunities.
Corporate and major donor fundraiser, Amy Jones said: “We are thrilled to be supported by some fantastic local businesses and have the opportunity to connect with our local rugby teams as we know how much it means to our patients and nurses.
"We look forward to developing these relationships and new ones in the future, to ensure that the care we provide can continue.”
The networking event allowed businesses who support the hospice to share advice and be introduced to other companies supporting Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
