STICKING with the Second World War theme here is a snap of a street party which was held in Atherton for VJ-Day in 1945.
The picture, which we found in the local archives, shows a V-J Day street party on Linden Avenue, in Atherton.
Victory in Japan Day was the name chosen for the day on which the surrender of Japan occurred, which effectively ended the Second World War.
Archive records state that this photograph was taken on August 18, 1945.
