CO-OP members in Leigh have the opportunity to win £5,000 for a Local Community Fund cause and a chance to win £500 off their Co-op shop.

Existing and new Co-op member-owners must spend a minimum of £5 in store or online, swipe their card, and have selected a Local Community Fund cause to be automatically entered into monthly prize draw.

Launching today (Wednesday, April 10) as part of a new nationwide giveaway, the campaign will help boost Co-op’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities through its Local Community Fund, which has supported over 36,000 local community projects across the UK since it launched in 2016. 

The Co-op Group saw profits fall over the past year as it grappled with food inflation, rainy weather dampening convenience shopping, and the highest ever levels of shoplifting, the retailer said.

It revealed its pre-tax profit fell by £240 million to £28 million in 2023, compared with 2022.

Hoping to incentivise people to shop at the Co-op and support local causes, the campaign will allow shoppers to enter as many times as they want across the period and each £5 shop will activate one entry into the competition and monthly prize draw.

Ten Co-op members every month will win £500 worth of prizes for them and £5,000 for their selected Local Community Fund cause. Non-members can sign up for just £1 via the Co-op App.

The major new ‘The Winners Share It All’ initiative will see Co-op Local Community Fund causes receive a share of £500,000 to support projects that benefit Co-op member communities, in addition to the support already distributed through Co-op’s Local Community Fund.
