THE FAMILY of a much-loved dad, grandad, and great-granddad have paid tribute to the man who was tragically killed in a collision in Atherton.
A collision between a car and a mobility scooter took place on Flapper Fold Lane in Atherton on Friday, April 12, at around midday.
It has been reported that the collision took place as the mobility scooter crossed the carriageway, causing the 88-year-old rider to become unseated and knocked to ground.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Joe Shaw sadly passed away in hospital later the same evening.
A 30-year-old woman was initially arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of a specified drug following a positive roadside test.
She has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
