DOZENS of pub-goers braved the wet weather to cycle in memory of a beloved little girl lost to a rare form of cancer.

After a courageous battle with Bloom Syndrome, a condition with fewer than 300 cases worldwide, tributes flooded in for the "inspirational" Holly Prince, who passed away aged five two years ago.

With Holly's family raising awareness of the condition during her cancer battle, they have since launched a registered charity called 'Holly's Hearts' to create special memories for children with cancer.

The team at Leigh's Boars Head was one of the first organisations to support the new charity last year, and last weekend they repeated a new tradition of cycling from the Market Place pub to Old Trafford and back, in honour of Holly and the charity set up in her name.

Organised by Leigh Boars Head owner Mick Aspey and his partner, Sam Kedward, and Holly’s uncle Danny Prince, dozens of riders cycled for 12 miles from the Boars Head to Old Trafford on Saturday, July 6.

Keeping Holly and the family in their minds, the team then cycled the 12 miles back to the Market Place pub, where a family fun-day was in full swing to try and raise as much money for the charity as possible.

This included a bouncy castle, raffles, and live music performances, and helped to bring more than £1,300 for Holly's Hearts.

With Mick and Sam taking over the reins of the pub in November 2022, the couple has committed to fundraising events as they aim to support local good causes and encourage a charitable atmosphere at the pub.
