I’VE been to the year 3,000 – not much has changed but Haydock Park Racecourse is still drawing in huge crowds for its music nights.
Thousands of people flocked to the racecourse on Saturday for the second of three after-racing concerts as part of the summer season.
Although nobody told the weather, with torrential downpours driving people under cover for many of the races.
Thankfully, the rain eased as the evening went on and stopped before the concert, meaning everyone could get close to the stage and enjoy the tunes.
And enjoy them they did, with the band transporting people back to their youth in the early 2000s.
Many in the crowd grew up listening to the band, and so they sang along to hits such as Crashed the Wedding and What I Go to School For.
The pop-punk band from Southend-on-Sea continued with Air Hostess, Thunderbirds Are Go and Sleeping With the Light On.
And what other song could the group end on than arguably its most iconic song Year 3000.
While the weather may have put some off, there was still a large crowd there to enjoy an afternoon of racing and evening of live music.
Busted and last month’s act Pete Tong will be followed next month by the final live music event of the summer season.
On August 9, The Earth, Wind and Fire Experience by Al McKay will be delivering hit after hit made famous by the iconic group.
September, Boogie Wonderland, Let’s Groove and After The Love Has Gone are sure to be just some of the tracks getting the Haydock crowd dancing away.
