PLANS have been submitted for 81 "high quality" homes at the site of the former Parsonage Colliery in Leigh.
Following earlier phases of housebuilding at 'Parsonage Gardens', plans for further developments have been submitted to Wigan Council.
Proposed by housebuilder Lancet Homes, the development would see 81 homes built on land off Parsonage Way, consisting of a mix of 2, 3, and 4 bedroom properties.

In a design and access statement, Lancet Homes says that the development will create a "well balanced residential community [and] deliver a range of high quality homes".
If approved by the council, a new road will be constructed to connect the current Parsonage Gardens estate to the new development.
The developers say that the surrounding landscape around Westleigh Brook has been considered, with two new parks and a public seating area included as part of the plans.
A small play area could form part of these parks, the plans suggest, while the public seating area has opportunities to display public art and "explore the site's industrial heritage".
Lancet Homes believes that the development has been submitted in accordance with Greater Manchester's 'Places For Everyone' plan, which identifies suitable areas for residential developments across the borough.
Concluding the planning application, Lancet Homes said: "The site has undergone an extensive design review, in close collaboration with the client, the consultant team, and the Local Authority.
"The result is an attractive residential development, which will positively contribute to the local area, and will fit well within its surroundings.
"The development will deliver a range of high quality 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes, positioned within a highly sustainable location, and will make a valuable contribution to local housing supply.
"To conclude, it has been clearly demonstrated through this statement that the development proposes an efficient use of land, which will enhance the surrounding area, in accordance with National and Local Planning Policy, and the National Design Guidance."
