LEIGH'S Josh Charnley has been given the medical all-clear after being released from hospital after being taken off on a stretcher in last night's play-off game at Salford.

Charnley was taken Salford Royal hospital with his neck in a brace after he had hit the ground awkwardly and head first when diving trap Ryan Brierley behind the Salford line.

There was a lengthy stoppage at the AJ Bell Stadium while he received treatment from the medics of both sides before being carried off on a stretcher.

It was a worrying sight which concerned all those watching at the stadium and on television.

Charnley posted a message on his Instagram in the early hours which read: Thanks for all your messages.

"I'm on my way home from having the all clear.

"Staff at Salford Royal were class.

"Thanks to my medical team for looking after me!

"Great win."

There had understandably been plenty of concern for Charnley, who had opened Leigh's account in the tough play-off win against the club's neighbours.

On his release, Leigh club chairman Derek Beaumont explained that they will keep further checks on the wingman.

And he added: "We have stood him down for concussion for 12 days. Our players will always take precedence."

Last night in the post match press conference, prior to Charnley's discharge, coach Adrian Lam said: "I saw Josh when I went into the dressing room at full-time and he was conscious and awake and moving.

"He wasn't awake for a while there. He was in a neck brace and has been taken to hospital, and fingers crossed that he's OK."
