PLANS have been submitted to expand a long-standing plumbing business in Leigh.
Following a planning application to expand the Leigh Plumbing Merchants premises last September, the business has resubmitted its application to Wigan Council.
Validated by the council last month, the application requests permission to construct a single-storey tile showroom and warehouse next to the current Leigh Plumbing Merchants showroom and offices, off Chapel Street in Leigh.
The purpose built showroom and warehouse would replace the Splash Hand Car Wash currently located on the site.

Submitted by PAB Architects, the application seeks consent for the "continuation and enlargement of Leigh Plumbing's ceramic and porcelain tiling business in compliment to their continued success".
Launched in 1995, Leigh Plumbing Merchants has been a popular provider of kitchen and bathroom plumbing services over the years, and the business also sells various home goods and essentials.
With the Chapel Street premises acting as Leigh Plumbing Merchant's home since 2008, the proposals will "allow the growth of the business and potential for further increased local employment".
Access and future car parking spaces will share the existing site facilities, the application states.
The building will be in keeping with the existing style of the Leigh Plumbing property, consisting of metal profiled cladding, light grey in colour with anthracite grey accent trims and roller shutter doors.
