ARRESTS were made this morning (Friday, October 25) after a drugs warrant in Atherton.

Officers executed a warrant at Walsh House, Brooklands Avenue in Atherton and arrested a woman on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs.

She is currently in custody in Wigan awaiting a  interview.

A male was also located near the address and was arrested after a stop and search in which officers found cannabis.

He was also found to be wanted for other criminal matters.

A GMP spokesperson said: “This operation is part of increased police activity in the area following reports of drug-related incidents and anti-social behaviour (ASB).

“The team has been using both covert and overt tactics, resulting in the recent recovery of stolen vehicles, identification and seizure of uninsured vehicles, successful drug-related stop and searches, and the arrest of wanted individuals.

“We continue to collaborate with our partners to ensure that residents responsible for ASB and criminality face enforcement measures.

“Greater Manchester Police remains committed to supporting these efforts, including supporting the eviction of problematic tenants when necessary.

“This type of action is only possible with the community's support. We encourage residents to report any concerns or incidents to GMP via 101 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 0800 555 111.”
