A NEW children's book featuring autistic siblings was launched at Leigh library this weekend.

'Do We Look Autistic?' by Alex Winstanley, a local award-winning author, is an 'engaging' picture book for readers aged 5 to 11.

The book, co-produced by autistic individuals and their families, aims to dispel myths, celebrate diversity, and highlight the importance of understanding and acceptance.

Part-financed and commissioned by Wigan Council, it is rooted in the community, with characters based on real people from the borough.

The launch event took place on Saturday, November 2, at Leigh Library and included a live reading by Alex Winstanley, a meet-and-greet with the illustrator, and speeches from local figures, including the Mayor of Wigan Borough, Councillor Debbie Parkinson.
